There is growing evidence that investing to improve outcomes for women and girls yields social and financial returns. The World Economic Forum reports that there is a positive correlation between gender equality and a country’s level of competitiveness, its gross domestic product (GDP) per capita, and its rank in the Human Development Index.
Although India has one of the largest opportunities to advance its development by working on gender equality, and examples abound of successful innovative finance pilots to improve outcomes for women and girls from Education to Health, not much is known about how different types of funders are developing strategies for gender, the nature of their investments, and how their strategies are operationalised.
This panel brings together diverse representatives on the supply and demand sides of Gender Lens Investing (GLI), to create a dialogue around actionable GLI models across the capital spectrum. Representatives across sectors from responsible business, impact investment, philanthropy and NGOs will discuss the variety of approaches and areas of focus within GLI, gaps between available GLI models and needs of recipient organisations. The panel will also discuss the way ahead for GLI.
- Learnings from innovative GLI models in India and globally
- How to apply a gender lens across stages of the investment process, from due-diligence to impact measurement?
